How It Works

How Mediation Works

Simple, Supportive, and Designed to Help You Move Forward.

We understand that taking the first step toward resolving the legal matters that arise after separation can feel overwhelming. That’s why we make the mediation process as clear and stress-free as possible—from the moment you get in touch.

How Mediation Works

Here Are the Four Steps to Take to Move Forward.

Step 1:

Reach Out or Secure a Mediation Date

Secure your preferred mediation date to begin the process.

You can view our mediation availability or get in touch if you’d like to ask a few questions first. We’ll guide you through the next steps and help you feel prepared.

Step 2:

Individual Intake Sessions

Meet your mediator via phone or online. We’ll learn more about you, your family, and what matters most to you.

Meet your mediator via phone or online. We’ll learn more about you, your family, and what matters most to you.

  • Safe and confidential
  • Online or by telephone
  • No obligation to continue

Step 3:

The Mediation Session

If everyone agrees to move forward, we’ll schedule your mediation. Sessions can be held:

  • In the same room
  • In separate rooms (known as shuttle mediation)
  • Online via Zoom

You’ll each have the chance to be heard, and we’ll ensure the conversations are respectful, giving you the opportunity to achieve fair and workable solutions. Whether it’s parenting, property, or both—we’ll help you focus on the future.

Step 4:

Reaching Agreement

Secure your preferred mediation date to begin the process.

If you reach an agreement, we’ll guide you on what next steps are needed to turn the agreement into settlement documents. You can then take your agreement to your lawyers, convert it to an enforceable agreement or simply keep it as a record of your understanding.

If agreement isn’t reached, we’ll discuss next steps and options. Mediation can still be valuable in helping to narrow issues and open communication.

How Mediation Works

Mediation Options & Inclusions.

No matter the mediation option you choose, the following are included –

  • Individual intake session with each party prior to the mediation date
  • Review of outlines/ material provided in advance of mediation
  • Option for in-person or online delivery
  • Issue of s60I certificate (if required) at conclusion of mediation

One & Done!

One & Done! Our full-day mediation is perfect for families who are ready to roll up their sleeves and work through everything in one sitting.

This format allows plenty of time to explore issues in depth, consider options, and (hopefully!) reach a resolution by day’s end. It’s a great option for clients who are prepared, organised, and keen to move forward.

Our full day mediations are usually scheduled from 9.30-5pm.

$4,400 (incl gst)

Half the Day, All the Focus!

Our half-day mediation is ideal for families who have just a few key issues to work through—or who prefer to break the process into smaller, more manageable parts.

Some clients choose two half-day sessions instead of one full day. This approach allows time to explore the issues, consider options, and reflect in between sessions—often leading to more thoughtful and lasting outcomes.

$2,750 (incl gst)

Bit by Bit!

For families who prefer a slower pace or need more time to work through complex or sensitive issues, our Bit by Bit Mediation offers a series of shorter 2.5 hour sessions.

This style allows space for reflection between meetings, making it especially helpful in high-conflict situations or where parenting arrangements are still evolving. It’s mediation, one step at a time—with space to breathe in between.

$1,250 (incl gst) per session

The Nudge & Note

Sometimes, the first step is just starting the conversation.

Our Nudge & Note package is designed for situations where your client is ready for mediation, but the other party isn’t quite there yet.

We’ll take care of the formal invitation process—sending up to two written invitations on your client’s behalf. If mediation doesn’t proceed, we’ll issue a Section 60I certificate where appropriate, so your client can take the next step if needed.

$495 (incl gst)
